Hello everyone, welcome back to Mindful Moments with Miss Harrison. I'm Miss Harrison and I'm so happy you're here today. Speaking of happy, that's exactly what we're going to talk about in this episode, happiness. Sometimes we spend a lot of time thinking about tricky emotions like anger or worry but it's just as important to notice and celebrate the happy moments in our lives. Today we're going to explore what happiness feels like, how to find it even on tough days and how being grateful can make us feel even brighter. Let's get started. What does it feel like to be happy?
Close your eyes for a moment and think about something that makes you feel really good. Maybe it's playing with your best friend, hugging a pet or eating your favorite food. How does your body feel when you're happy? Happiness often feels light and warm, like sunshine inside us. Maybe it makes you want to smile, laugh or even jump up and down. But here's a secret, happiness isn't just something that happens. Sometimes we can choose to look for happiness in small moments around us. Let's listen to a story about a girl named Mia and her happy jar. Mia loved collecting happy moments. She had a special jar on her desk called her happy jar.
Every time something made her smile, she'd write it down on a little piece of paper and put it in the jar. One day, Mia had a tough day at school. She felt grumpy and tired, but then she looked at her happy jar and started reading the notes she'd written. I saw a rainbow after the rain. Or Grandma made my favourite cookies. And I laughed so hard at a funny joke. As Mia read each happy moment, she felt the grumpiness fade away. She realised that even on hard days, there were still little things to smile about. What do you think Mia learned about happiness? Just like Mia, we can all look for happy moments, even on days when we feel down.
Here are three ways to find and celebrate happiness. Number one, you can notice small joys. This means looking for little things that make you smile, like a kind word or a pretty flower or maybe even a funny moment. Number two, you could share your happiness. Talk about happy moments with a friend or a family member. Sharing your joy makes it grow. Or number three, you can practice gratitude.
Take time to think about what you're grateful for as gratitude is like a happiness superpower. It helps you see all the good things in your life. Now it's time for an activity. Let's play the gratitude challenge. I'm going to ask you to think of three things you are grateful for. They can be big or small, anything that that makes you feel thankful. Are you ready? Okay, what's something you're thankful for at home? Well done, I'm sure that's a great one. Number two, what's something you're thankful for outside, like maybe in nature? Perfect, and finally what's something you're thankful for about yourself? Well done. Gratitude helps us see the happy moments we might have missed. If you'd like, you could even start your own happy jar like Mia.
You've done amazing work today. Remember, happiness can be found in small, everyday moments and practicing gratitude can make those moments even brighter. Before we go here's your challenge for the week. Every evening think of one happy thing that happened that day and tell somebody about it or you could even write it down. By the end of the week you'll have your own collection of happy moments. Next time on Mindful Moments with Miss Harrison, we'll talk about dealing with worry and how to calm our minds when we feel nervous. I can't wait to see you.
Thank you for joining me today. Keep noticing those happy moments and as always, keep shining. always, keep shining.
