Helping children develop confidence, motivation, and resilience by setting achievable goals and celebrating progress.
In this episode of Mindful Moments with Miss Harrison, children explore how setting goals and celebrating small winscan help them grow in confidence and believe in their abilities. Goals give children direction, purpose, and something exciting to work towards—like a map guiding them on a journey of learning and achievement.
Through Ethan’s story, children learn that even the biggest dreams begin with the smallest steps. By focusing on one simple goal at a time, and celebrating each success along the way, children can build skills, perseverance, and a strong sense of pride.
This episode supports children in understanding that progress—not perfection—is what builds confidence.
What children will learn in this episode:
- Why setting goals helps children stay motivated and focused
- How small, achievable steps lead to bigger success
- The importance of celebrating progress, not just outcomes
- How goal-setting builds confidence and resilience

- Choose a goal: Pick something you want to learn, try, or improve
- Start small: Break your goal into simple, achievable steps

Hello everyone and welcome back to Mindful Moments with Miss Harrison. I'm Miss Harrison and I'm so happy you're here for another episode in our Building Confidence and Self -Esteem series. Last time we talked about learning from mistakes, how every mistake helps us grow and get stronger. Did you try your Mindful Moment challenge this week? I hope you found a moment to smile and learn after a mistake. Today we're going to talk about something exciting and powerful, setting goals and celebrating our wins.
By the end of this episode, you'll know how to dream big, work hard, and feel proud of every step you take towards success. Let's get started. Have you ever wanted to learn something new, get better at something, or try a big adventure? Setting a goal gives you a direction to move toward, like a treasure map showing you the way. When we set goals, we challenge ourselves to grow. We're more likely to stay focused and motivated and feel proud when we make progress.
Goals don't have to be big. Sometimes the smallest steps are the most important. Let's hear a story about someone who learned how powerful setting a goal can truly be. Ethan loved music and wanted to learn how to play the guitar. At first, the strings felt tricky and the chords made his fingers hurt. He thought, I'll never be able to play a song.
But then Ethan set a small goal. This week, I'll learn to play just two notes. He practiced every day. Some days were harder than others, but he always kept going. When he finally played his two notes clearly, he felt so proud. And guess what?
After that, he set another goal. Now I'll learn a whole song. Little by little, note by note, Ethan built his skills and his confidence. What do you think Ethan learned about setting goals? Just like Ethan, you can set goals and celebrate every step you take. Here's how.
Pick a goal. Choose something you want to try or get better at. Make it small and clear. Start with a tiny step you can work on every day. Celebrate every win. Every bit of progress is worth cheering for.
You don't have to wait until you reach the very end to celebrate. You can celebrate every brave step you take along the way. What's one goal you'd like to set for yourself? Let's create a quick plan together. What do you want to do or learn? What should your first small step be?
What could you do today or maybe this week? When you reach your first step, how are you going to celebrate? Remember big dreams start with small steps and every small step deserves a big celebration. You've done a wonderful job today learning about setting goals and celebrating wins so try to remember setting a goal gives you something exciting to work towards. Taking a small step keeps you moving forward and celebrating your progress helps you stay proud and motivated. Here's your mindful moment challenge for the week.
Choose one small goal, take your first step toward it and celebrate when you do. No step is too small to be proud of. Next time on Mindful Moments with Miss Harrison, we'll wrap up this series by building your very own confidence shield. A collection of all the wonderful skills you've learned to help you shine even brighter. I can't wait to see you there. Thank you for joining me today.
Keep dreaming. Keep stepping forwards, and as always, keep shining.
